Your support enabled the Van Wezel to launch a brand-new Kindergarten Readiness program, Ready to Grow, to serve our youngest learners.

In partnership with the Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Sarasota County, Van Wezel Teaching Artists trained in early learning standards use Artworks Anywhere videos and Virtual Visits to integrate the arts with literacy, math, and social emotional learning.

Brigid Kolowith, Early Childhood Specialist with ELC, sees the impact the program has on preschoolers. “Thanks to our partnership with the Van Wezel, Sarasota Pre-K students expanded their art knowledge and experiences. Many of these children come from low income families, and most have never seen a live performance or even been inside a theatre. The whole child approach targets the child, family, and teachers to build the skills of everyone involved who surround a child in an arts-rich experience. Ready to Grow fulfills this premise.”

Early exposure to the arts:
• Develops motor skills
• Accelerates brain development
• Builds creativity and self-esteem

We are grateful to our donors for giving children a head start for success in school.

Funding for Artworks Anywhere: Ready to Grow, is provided in part by PNC Bank and the Allen Wirtz Nobbe and Jo Bowen Nobbe Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
