Our Vision For Sarasota Performing Arts Center

The mission of the Van Wezel Foundation is to create a world-class performing arts center that enriches the community, supports arts education, and inspired young minds.

Transforming the Sarasota Area

On September 6, 2018, the city of Sarasota approved a master plan initiative to transform 53-acres along The Bay into a new park and green space with the new Sarasota Performing Arts Center at the heart of it.

For more than 30 years, the Van Wezel Foundation has made a lasting impact throughout our region.  It’s this legacy of excellence that drives the Foundation as we look to create a new Sarasota Performing Arts Center and reimagine the way the performing arts add value to our community.

Improving the Quality of Life for our Community

The new Sarasota Performing Arts Center will be a beacon that serves as a mission-based community asset for education and improved quality of life throughout the region by advancing educational opportunities and creating multi-generational arts programming for lifelong learning.  The new Center will also utilize the arts promote healthy and vibrant communities that foster civic pride community inclusion.

The Arts Mean Business and Economic Recovery

The Sarasota Performing Arts Center will also contribute to our economic recovery, creating planning and construction jobs over the next five to seven years and driving commerce to local businesses all year long.  The new Center will also promote our region as a world-class cultural tourist destination, stimulating neighborhoods and driving new sources of revenue and investment to underserved communities.

We’re building A Place for Ideas, A Place for the Arts, A Place for You.
